Mickey – She Lost an Eye as a Result of Abuse – She Now Needs a Home

3/7/16 – Please share and let’s find Mickey the perfect home. This sweet girl has been through a lot — not only a horrible foster experience which resulted in her going blind but she was recently adopted and then given up because she had tapeworms. Here is her story as given by her rescuer:

“Mickey is doing very well. Her stitches from her recent eye removal have been removed and she is healing beautifully.

Mickey is a 4 1/2 month old kitten. Who had a very hard start in life…. She was first rescued by our rescue (No Dogs Left Behind) and sent to a foster home where she was thrown in the basement to starve to death. When our rescue received this information we called the police department and quickly went over to rescue Mickey. After rushing Mickey to the vet, we found out Mickey’s chances of making it was very low. We nurtured Mickey back to health the very best we could. It was a very slow process. Due to a neglected upper respiratory infection, Mickey needed her left eye removed. Knowing the vet bills were going to be extremely high 4 paws 1 heart kindly stepped forward to pay for Mickey’s vet bills.

Mickey successfully went through surgery and is now healing very nicely. Mickey is completely blind but she is a very strong kitten who fought for her own life. We are very excited to see where Mickeys health is today and we are very proud of Mickey. Mickey is up-to-date on shots and has been spayed, she is great with other cats, dogs and children. She is completely litter box trained and acts like any other kitten should, She loves to play, and is definitely a lap cat, She also loves to sleep next to you at night, Mickey is a very affectionate kitten. Jack – Update

3/7/16 – We’ve asked for your prayers for sweet Jack who was rescued from the streets with an upper respiratory infection so bad that he finally had to have his eye removed. Unfortunately, he’s been to the vet more times than any animal would want but now we are praying that he is finally on the road to recovery. Here is the latest report from Jack’s rescuer and mom, Kelly:

“Hi everyone, just a quick update on Jack, he got his stitches out today, he was a good boy when the Dr. Pulled them out. He is still having a few issues realizing he is no longer a feral and has his wild cat moments, but is learning from us and our older cats that he is in a safe, loving environment. Sometimes we wonder if someone did this to him, he acts scared of humans on occasion, but in time we are sure he will come around – Kelly”jackw:kellyParchertt3:3:16

The Hoody Hoo – Fundraiser for 4 Paws 1 Heart and Macomb Food Program

3/6/16 – A huge thank you to Nancy Smith and the Utica Education Association Staywell Committee for selecting 4 Paws 1 Heart as one of the charities who will benefit from the Hoodie Hoo 5k walk/run. We are honored to share the proceeds with another great non-profit, the Macomb Food Program, which is another organization where 99% of the dollars donated go directly to feeding the less fortunate in Macomb County. Also, thank you to our friends who attended this event in our name. In the photo are my husband, Tony, who distributes donated food to rescues and those who do outreach, me, our Board member, Darlene Chiappetta, and her husband Mike. ~ diana12794421_10153935841337974_3237860657620092384_n

Bruce Needs A Forever Home

3/4/16 – Please share and let’s get this very sweet 10 year old boy a permanent home. He was rescued from the middle of the road by Katie Schuman. She contacted 4 Paws 1 Heart and we paid for his medical treatment. Please contact Katie at: [email protected] Here is his story:
“Bruce is the most appreciative senior cat I’ve ever been around.
We rescued him a few months ago while he was in the middle of the road begging to get hit by a car. Under six pounds and at an estimated age of 10, he was severely emaciated, flee infested, and extremely dehydrated. We have had our shares of emergency trips to the hospital!
I have gotten his weight up and stable. He has a heart murmur and a condition called megacolon from chronic constipation. I found this dosent really effect him. He also is missing a top canine tooth. This dosent phase him as he loves food and his water. (Water especially)
Unfortunatly, I can no longer foster Bruce and need to find him a loving family.
He keeps to himself the majority of the time and tolerates my small dog. My kitten likes to play and tease. He wasn’t so crazy about that idea. I can only imagine the battles he has gone through with other animals. He has NEVER thrashed out or showed any signs of aggression. He is neutered and declawed in the front. I have a nice litter box to go with him and any food that is left over.
He is the sweetest little guy and needs lots of love. Katie”

Sherlock Holmes – Happy Update

3/4/16 – A Happy Update from one of our friends. It was June 25, 2015 when we received a desperate call for help (see photo on the left). A stray cat had walked through the family’s doggie door. The cat had a “bad jaw and tooth”; his leg had two puncture wounds, it was swollen, and he was limping. The young son immediately fell in love and named him Sherlock Holmes. We paid for Sherlock to receive medical treatment and today he is obviously doing great and loves cuddling with his snuggle buddy, Tiger. Your donations make miracles happen for those who have no one else. ~ diana
