Phoenix – Saved from a House Fire

5/12/16 – Please continue to keep sweet Phoenix in your prayers. She remains traumatized from her experience in a house fire where over 50 cats were found dead. She was just one of seven who made it out alive due to the compassion and skills of the Detroit firefighters. Last night she was given the duty to give the ‘goodnight’ post. ~ diana

“Uh…hello everybody, I’m Phoenix. Chance says it would be good for me to do the nitenite post so I’m going to give it a try. I’m doing a wee bit better today making eye contact and even giving an occasional wink. I’m super sad about losing so many of my friends in the fire, and really scared when I hear any strange noises or see sudden movement. I don’t want to be picked up right now and feel safer in my cat tower for now. But my foster mom says not to worry, nothing and nobody’s going to hurt me and I can just take all the time I needs to feel better. Chance & the Gang take turns keeping me company and my foster mom and Aunt Shelly spend lots of time whispering sweet words to me and giving me gentle pets. And when I’m feeling better 4 Paws 1 Heart will be taking care of my shots and what ever I might need medically. But for now I’m just going to rest and try to look toward the future. Thankyou everybody for all your prayers, keep sending them becuse I still need them and I know they are helping me. So goodnite everybody Love Phoenix

P.S. Thankyou Cynthia & Jeannie for your help & guidance.”phoenix 5:11:16

Aura – Gets Ready for Eye Surgery

5/12/16 – Our good friends at Bully’s Angels contacted us after sweet Aura was rescued from the streets. We were asked if we could assist with Aura’s eye issues. We scheduled Aura to visit our ‘go-to’ eye specialists, Veterinary Vision, and they came back with this report. This may be more detailed information than most would want to read but I thought our friends might be interested in this condition. Aura will have her surgery today so please say a little prayer that her surgery goes well. ~ diana

Medical Report: “A dog’s upper eye lid normally has between two and four rows of eyelashes while the lower lid has none. Distichiasis is a condition where extra hair arises from or near the meibomian (oil) glands. Often this condition is asymptomatic, however, when the hairs come into contact with the cornea or conjunctiva, mild blepharospasm, conjunctivitis and occasionally corneal ulceration may occur. Often times it is not the distichia hairs that are the problem but rather ectopic cilia which emerge from the palpebral conjunctiva and usually impinge directly on to the cornea.

Aura also has entopion of her inferior lids OU. When these lids roll inward, irritation to the corneas can be significant, much more so than usually occurs with distichiasis alone. The degree of spastic entropion versus true entropion is difficult to assess in Aura’s case, thus temporary tacking sutures will help evert eyelids from their current entropion and allow us to assess her more accurately. Regardless, surgical correction of entropion and electropilation of all visible distichia have been advised.”aura w:bully's angels

Poppy and Her Siblings – In Critical Condition Because of Parvo

5/10/16 – Our good friends at Misfit Angels Rescue needed our help and we were happy to be there for them. They recently took on 4 puppies surrendered by their ‘owner’. The babies had been taken from their mama way too soon and were under five pounds. They were full of worms. Soon after taking them in, one puppy started showing symptoms of Parvo and had to be taken into the hospital immediately. Since then two of Poppy’s litter mates started showing the same symptoms. They all continue to be hospitalized and we are praying that they make it. Thanks to all of our friends who help us support our friends. ~ dianachristian before christian 5:10:16

Lion – Update After His Surgery

5/5/16 – Update on Lion: He was living outside as a ‘feral’. A kind woman fed him along with others. One day she noticed that he couldn’t use his back leg. She contacted us for help to trap him and to pay for him to be seen by a vet — she had been trying to get him for awhile. Although he was ‘friendly’ with her, it was difficult to tell whether Lion had been a lost/dumped pet or if he was truly feral. Our good friend, Debra B., was able to trap Lion and transport him to the vet. There it was found that his leg was broken and would need to be amputated; he was also found to be FIV positive. Not knowing whether Lion was domesticated or feral made our decision even harder. There was no way we would support placing a three-legged, FIV cat back out doors but we would also not let a cat with a broken leg, unable to defend himself, outside again. But after getting commitments from the caretaker and another friend in our Village, we decided to take a chance and go ahead with the amputation which would give Lion a second chance at a good life. Lion had his surgery on Tuesday of this week and here is the latest report from his temporary foster mom. If anyone is interested in fostering/adopting this boy, please contact Jo at joadd18@gmail.com ~ Diana

“Lion is doing very well in his recovery. He’s still a little out of it but is getting around good. He is using the litter box and he moves around to the different beds I have. He’s a tough cookie. Thank you for helping him on a new journey in his life. He loves getting petted and being talked to. Poor guy probably hasn’t had any love in a long time if at all.-Jo”lion after surgery5:5:16

Phoenix (aka Asia) – One of the Lucky Cats Saved Where Over 30 Perished

5/4/16 – Unfortunately there were far more cats killed in the firebombing than originally thought. Because of the bravery of firefighters, seven cats and one dog was saved. One of the seven fortunate babies, found her way to our good friend, Denise Najera. Denise will be caring for Asia, who suffered smoke inhalation and was obviously traumatized, until she is well enough to be adopted. Here is a report from our Superhero, Chance, who will be helping his mom. Please say a few prayers for all of the fur babies who have been removed from the other house; our entire rescue village has been working hard to find placement for these lost souls. ~ diana

“Hello Team, sooo please meet Asia. Asia is our new medical foster that arrived this evening. Asia is an approximately 3yr old boy kitty who is one of only a handful of kittys who survived his home being firebombed. Over 20 kittys perished in this senseless act of violence in Detroit 😢 Asia suffered extensive smoke inhalation and also being drenched with fire hoses and although being revived by firefighters he was then left in a carrier over 24hrs. The vet says his lungs are hurt from the smoke and his throat is very sore. We are giving him antibiotics so infection doesn’t set into his lungs. We are trying to entice him to eat something. Mom says he seems to be in shock, we can’t even begin to imagine how he must be feeling. We are just going to love him up and do everything we can while he’s in our paws to let him know he’s safe and loved. When’s Asia is feeling better he will be needing a loving home. His caretaker was not in the home when the firebombing happened, but she has surrendered all the surviving kittys as she’s no longer able to care for them. Big Thankyou to everyone who stepped up for these poor babies by sharing, posting, texting, transporting to vets and fosters, and making room in their homes and hearts. Please keep Asia and all the surviving kittys in your prayers as they try to heal physically and emotionally and please share his story. Love Chance phoenix5:4:16house fire 5:4:16

Bailey – RIP Sweet Baby — At Least You Knew Love in the End

5/3/16 – It is with a heavy heart that we have to tell our friends that our sweet Bailey has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. It was July, 2015 that we were contacted by Laurel asking if we could help. Laurel had seen an ‘ad’ which said that Bailey, a senior dog, was going to be surrendered to a shelter if no one else wanted her. We agreed to have Bailey seen by our veterinary and she was found to have been severely neglected and also found to have heart issues. There wasn’t much hope for Bailey to live much longer. But, Laurel decided that she would do everything she could to give Bailey the best life ever — even if it was short — and 4 Paws 1 Heart committed to taking care of Bailey’s medical needs for the rest of her life. Over the past eight months, Laurel and 4p1h has kept their commitment to this sweetheart. We are saddened by her passing but thankful that we could be a part of giving her the best time ever for the last days of her life.bailey53!6bailey--5:3:16 bailey5:3:16

Seven Cats Survive in a House Fire Where Over 50 Cats Died.

5/1/16 – There are numerous cats in another home owned by the same person. Most cats have been fixed and well cared for but it is an overwhelming situation. We are working with a representative of the owner to find rescues who might be able to help in taking on the domesticated cats before an organization comes in who will euthanize them. The over population of cats in our communities is horrendous but totally controllable if people and government would work together and truly care about living beings. Cats seem to be the second class citizens of the domestic animal world. People will leave them behind, dump them, let them roam without being fixed, and torture them. Cities will pay to have their animal control officers pick them up and have them killed. This is the perfect example of a person who just got caught up trying to help; she used her own money to get them fixed and feed them. But, no one person can possibly handle something like this, especially in an area where your own life is often at stake. Shawn Ley Please share. There are approximately 20-30 more cats look for a safe place. You can message me on this page with your e mail address or phone number and I will pass it on to the representative. ~ diana

Hudson – A Senior Found on the Streets

4/30/16 – This is Hudson with his new foster buddy. Hudson (the dog) was found on the streets and taken in by a local veterinarian who has a huge heart. Mutts of Motown then stepped up to help him. He is a senior who required pain meds for arthritis and urinary issues but he is now being much loved in his foster home. 4 Paws 1 Heart is always grateful when we can help our rescue friends with their medical bills. Mutts of Motown takes in a number of seniors who will typically live their life out with them. Anyone interested in getting a fully trained, loving senior, as a family member should check out Mutts of Motown. ~ dianamuttsofmotown4:26:16
