Hercules – the Rochester Patch

From Hercules:
Hello everyone!
I am so excited that I just had to tell you all right away.  I was in the news earlier this week, but it was for good stuff this time.  We had a reporter from the Rochester Patch come out on Monday to visit the office where I work and he really liked me – I could tell.  He used his camera a lot and asked a bunch of questions, which was fine because I got to enjoy my favorite goodie while showing off (a peanut butter kong)!  The story was on Tuesday’s internet paper and the link is here if you want to check it out!  http://rochester.patch.com/articles/pawsitive-steps-uses-physical-therapy-to-rehabilitate-pets#video-14018691  None of this would have been possible if things hadn’t changed dramatically for me last spring.  I am forever grateful for the new lease on life that 4 Paws 1 Heart gave me…it is nearly the one year anniversary of my rescue and my life is so much better because of the wonderful people involved there.  Keep up the pawsitive work!

Helping Little Niles

Again, thanks to all of our supporters and those who attended the “Disco in the D” and the phenomenal generosity of Colleen’s Irish Pub, 4 Paws 1 Heart is able to help little Niles who was rescued by our good friends at Loveabull Paws Rescue. He is still in the hospital but is holding his own (although he could use your prayers and positive energy). Here is his story: ~ diana

“Niles is a five week old male St. Bernard/Blue Heeler mix orphan pup. We got his litter of eight from the shelter at a week old and have bottle fed them. Niles is the runt of the litter but has been a fighter. He only weighs 1.7 pounds and in the past few days his health has been declining. He went to the vet today and is severely anemic due to such a bad infestation of tape worms and round worms. His body temperature is low and he is dehydrated. They are keeping him for a few days, stabilizing, doing blood transfusions, deworming, and IV fluids. “

What a Night – Thank You !

WHAT A NIGHT!! The “Disco in the D” was a fabulous success and I cannot thank all of our friends enough for all of their support. One Hundred and Seventy Seven (177) people came out for the abandoned, stray, and abused. Hercules was even there for a short while on his way back from hosting an open house. And, a very new friend, Mary, gave back to 4 Paws 1 Heart the $510 she won in the 50/50 raffle!!! Again, I want to thank my wonderful husband for all of his work and support, Gina – our very own Animal Angel (and her partner in crime, Dave), our great Board of Directors, all of our friends and families who continue to support our fundraisers, and our new friends, at Colleen’s Irish Pub, who are phenomenal party hosts. May God Bless All Of You. The lives of many animals will be forever changed because of YOU! ~ Diana

Feral Mom & Five Kittens

4/15/13 Update on Feral Mama: Update on mommy and kittens. They are all doing well and the mom is starting to let me get closer. As the kittens get bigger they may come to me giving the mom more security that she is safe and so are the babies. All five are snuggled in with their mommy in this picture..~ Gina

4/16/13  Feral mom showing baby how to eat:) The mom is still very protective and terrified, but one day at a time… All 5 babies are healthy and doing great. They are starting to show interest in me more and more. I can not touch the mom and I’m very careful getting near the kittens, but if that’s what it takes to gain her trust then so be it:) Gina

Pawing It Forward

April, 2013  Pawing it forward — Our little Gordie’s legacy will live on. In memory of our Gordie, 4 Paws 1 Heart has provided some medical dollars for this little doll, Carrie Underwood, who was rescued by P.A.A.W. She is an 8-week old female with Parvo. Please say a few prayers and send some positive energy for this girl. ~ diana

Gina’s Kittens

Gina’s kittens are getting big and sassy. From being taken in at birth without a mom to teach them how to be a ‘cat’, Gina and her trusty pal, Angel, were able to get them to a point where they will some day have lots of loving in a forever home. As soon as they are able to be spayed and neutered they will be available for adoption through A Scooter’s ResQ. ~ diana

Lily Bear Needs Puppy Prayers

April 8, 2013: Puppy prayers are needed once again for our most recent 4 Paws 1 Heart case, Lilly Bear, who is being treated for Parvo Virus. She is only six months old. Her fate was in our hands and we couldn’t this sweet girl away. ~ gina

April 11, 2013:  Lily Bear Update: Prayers needed.. Our sweet little Lilly Bear is still very, very, sick. She is going on Day 4 of trying to fight off Parvo Virus. We are providing her the best veterinary care we can but just like every pup with this nasty virus it is unknown if they will pull through even with treatment. Parvo is very expensive to treat and there are never any guarantees. Lilly is weak and tired but we will not give up on her.. I’ll keep you updated on her condition as I know more. ~ Gina

We can only help because of you. 4 Paws 1 Heart has helped several puppies in the past couple of months who had contracted Parvo. Some have made it and some have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We are trying to maintain a level of money in our account so that we can help when these cases are brought in. Without our funding, these little ones without homes, or those in homes where the families can’t afford to meet the financial needs would not have a chance. 99.99999% of all dollars donated go directly to medical treatment. Donations can be made on the FB link or our website [email protected]or by mail at P.O.Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080 ~ diana

April 12, 2013:  Day 6 of Lily Bear’s fight for life. ~ diana

Star Update

Here’s an update on our Star from her mom, Dana. It was just about a month ago that she was brought in by the wonderful people who accidentally hit her. Now she’s living the life of luxury. Here’s Dana’s update. ~ diana

“I just thought you guys would like an update on Star, the cat I adopted from 4 Paws/Gina. She is doing wonderful and seems to have adjusted very quickly to her new home. She loves all of her new toys and hanging out with my fiancé and I. She is a wonderful addition to our life!! ~ Dana”

Hercules Update

HERCULES UPDATE:
Hello everyone!
Lots of big things going on this weekend…4 Paws 1 Heart has a disco fundraiser which sounds like lots of fun.  I don’t have any disco attire so I am sending my folks to that one in my place.  However, I will be the master of ceremonies at the Pawsitive Steps Rehabilitation & Therapy for Pets Open House (also on Saturday, April 13th from 10am to 1pm) – more info at this link http://www.pawsitivestepsrehab.com/news/.  Hopefully, you can squeeze both events into your weekend.  I saw some old friends yesterday at Partridge Creek which was really fun.  I also met several new friends which was just grand!  Isn’t the warmer weather just the best?  I can’t wait to spend all day basking in the sun sprawled in the grass after a good play session.  Those are today’s puppy dreams!
Hope to see you this weekend!
