The Signs of a Heat Stroke in an Animal

7/14/13 PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE SHARE!!!! THE SIGNS OF HEAT STROKE IN AN ANIMAL! Prognosis with heat stroke is guarded to grave! We had 4 cases in less than 8 hours tonight at the emergency veterinary hospital. PLEASE do not leave your pet in this heat or exercise them in this heat. 1 out of 4 is alive tonight and he is not out of the woods yet. This is going to be a hot week and it takes a matter of minutes for an animals temp to reach critical.. Signs of heat stroke include (but are not limited to):
body temperatures of 104-110F degrees
excessive panting
dark or bright red tongue and gums
sticky or dry tongue and gums
staggering
stupor
seizures
bloody diarrhea or vomiting
coma
death
