2/9/21 – Our friend, Jo A., contacted us the other night about a 4-5 month old kitten found freezing outside, paws bleeding, very thin, breathing heavy, and with severe diarrhea. The rescuer suspected frost bite or being caught in a car engine.

She was able to be seen by one of our favorite doctors yesterday. Dr. Zalac reported that Onyx was in very bad shape. She thought she might have to have a paw and leg amputated and definitely needed treatment for an upper respiratory infection. She stayed overnight at the animal hospital and she is receiving special treatment that might negate the need for the leg to be amputated. I will know more later today and will update our friends. Onyx’s treatment may be costly so anything you can do to help with her recovery is very much appreciated. She is a very sweet cat and, like so many, is either an escapee or was abandoned by owners. We absolutely want to give Onyx a second chance at life. A small prayer always helps. – diana

2/3/21 – A very good friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart contacted me about this poor girl/guy who she’s been feeding for about one year. He’s a member of a cat community that she has been caring for but is now being threatened by someone who lives near the colony. She named him Sundae because, again, not sure if he’s a male or female but we will find out tomorrow when he will be seen by a vet. This poor baby appears to be sight impaired and always separates himself from the rest of the cats. Our friend, Laura, always tries to make sure he is there to be fed. As Laura said, he appears to have been through a lot in his life — she estimates he is about 4-5 years old. As I said he will be going to one of our vets tomorrow to be examined, tested, treated for any parasites, and neutered/spayed if needed. HELP is needed because we don’t want to see him go back to the colony. Unfortunately, our friend already has a number of cats that she takes care of and thinks he would like to be in a home with fewer cats. 2/3/21 – I received a request to assist two cats living under a home. The homeowner has been feeding them and she thinks they may be siblings. Both cats allow her to pick them up and give them love but she can’t bring them into her home because she has two dogs and two cats. When she went to feed them the other day, she noticed that the female appeared to have a prolapsed rectum so she contacted us for help. The beautiful, black female, Lynette, had a tipped ear so at one time someone took her in to be spayed and released her to the outside although she is very friendly. I offered to also help Lynette’s brother, Sir Flufferton, because he had not been neutered. Yesterday, they both saw one of our favorite veterinarians. Lynette did not have a prolapsed rectum (yeah!) but the doctor thinks she had been struggling due to constipation so that was taken care of. They both tested negative for FIV/FeLv and Sir Flufferton is scheduled to be neutered. Unfortunately, because there was no room in the home, they were both released to the outdoors but if anyone is interested in adopting this very bonded pair, contact Leah Lindsey at: [email protected] or message her on FB. – Diana

2/3/21 – As you can see, this guy was left behind at a motel. A rescue and foster has been found and 4 Paws 1 Heart is taking care of his medical needs which always includes neutering, testing, and vaccines. Recently a poster commented about us not helping dogs and again, I want to say, we are non-discriminatory. We will help any stray dog or cat as long as we have the funds. It’s just that over the past 10 months, because of the shut downs and restrictions in mid-2020, many more cats have been born on the streets than dogs and many more have been injured or gotten sick. This doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t dogs needing our help but we have not been contacted about dogs as we have with cats. In fact, in just this past week we have been contacted about 2 hoarding situations which we’ve posted about and just learned that an additional 11 cats were found on the premises and 13 dead cats were found in the freezer. We are working with the rescuers on that also. In addition, we have had many of our TNR rescue friends who have been working very diligently in mobile home parks which often have an overwhelming number of cats left behind when people move, contact us for assistance. In all cases, because of our loyal donors, we have not had to say no yet. Thank YOU. – diana
