Bridgette – Saved from a Home With Over 40 Dead and Live Cats

1/5/17 – A happy update about Bridgette. It was almost two years ago when she was rescued from a horrible situation where over 40 cats were living, some others were found dead. Our good friend from A Hopeful Heart worked very hard to rescue as many of them as possible and bring in the authorities. The story was also on the news. Unfortunately, unless the hoarder is helped, the hoarding will continue until, once again, the situation is reported and then we all start all over again. In this case, the hoarder refused all help and the husband continued to be an enabler. A very difficult situation for the humans, but a deadly situation for the poor animals. Thank God for Denise and her sister, Shell, for opening their hearts and homes. Bridgette is truly a little sweetheart who we enjoyed visiting a few weeks ago. ~ diana

“Heehee! Hellooo Team, its me..Bridgette again! Since its my Birthday, I get to do the nitenite post! So, for those who dont know my history I was rescued from a terrible hoarder house along with about 40 other kittys. Mom took me to foster me. I had a lot going on when I came. 4 Paws 1 Heart was there for all my medical. I had chronic crystals which is under control now. I also have chronic allergys and chronic asthma too. Despite that our amazing friend Annie wanted to adopt me! But when I went to Annies house, it turned out Annie had a severe, and I mean a SEVERE allergic reaction to me. She loved me sooo much and was so sad to have to send me back to moms house. I still love Annie very much, and she loves me too! Anyways, Im such a sweet girl that after that Chance, mom & Aunt Shelly decided they couldnt bear to part with me again, so they decided to keep me forever and ever I still have my asthma and allergies and I get medicine. We have to be very careful with my allergys but I am the Princess of the house and I love my family to the moon, and everybody loves snd spoils me…a lot!!! So there you have it, the story of my Second Chance. Sweet dreams everybody, we love you all bunches!”

Sadie’s Pride – 19 Kittens Helped by 4 Paws 1 Heart Find Their Homes

1/4/17 – Yes, with the help of our donors, the rescuers, and the fosters, 4 Paws 1 Heart paid for spay/neuter, vaccinations, testing, flea treatment, deworming and more, if needed. Nineteen cats who will never reproduce again. When you consider that every female can average a litter of five kittens, three times a year and can reproduce almost their entire life — well, you do the math. Again, thank you to Sadie’s Pride, our donors, and the rescuers who truly make a difference in this world.
P.S. If you want to see more photos of the 19 saved, go to our website and search under Sadie’s Pride. ~ diana

Trouble (aka Rudy) – In Trouble Again

1/1/17 – Unfortunately, Trouble (aka Rudy) was taken once again to Advanced Animal Emergency for a second time on New Year’s Day.

“Hi …..Rudy…I mean TROUBLE here. Yes, Mom changed it back to Trouble. It seems that I got myself in a bit of trouble….

Here is my story…the short version. New Years Day, Projectile vomitting, Mom had to leave saurkraut day to take me to Advanced Animal Emergency but she brought my new harem which includes Aunt Annie – Anne Sadowski and Auntie Lisa Lisa Marie Panczyk. Pictures of my belly were taken. Things looked funky so need to see a vet that can do an ultrasound. Anti- nausea med given. Home we go 3 1/2 hours. An hour later Mom told Dad we had to go back things weren’t right they took me back. I had a sleep over! got hydrated and anti-nausea meds! Felt better. Dr Van came in and took me to go for the ultrasound. Things were still funky and food was still in my tummy way way after 12 hours…sounds like blockage to me! Dr Van put me to sleep and took a peek inside – ah oh….I had trouble! I had intussusception again- Dr. Van took 19cm of my intestines out. Last time it was like 6-8 inches….I might run out of intestines!

The wonderful people at Advanced are taking great care of me and am slated to go home Weds. That’s my story…
Special thank you to 4 Paws 1 Heart for all they do- they pay medical expenses for homeless and abused animals – so please start out the new year right (UnLike me) and donate to their cause! www.4paws1heart.org/donations

Mom here….please pray for Rudy and his recovery and for his Dr. and techs….he is so sweet and loving – our home is not the same without that nutty ball of fur.”

Peanut – Update

1/1/17 – Happy 2017! One of my many struggles (besides fundraising) is to balance the happy beginning updates with our current efforts. But, being it’s another new year and the fact that we have so many new followers, I thought I would start it off with an update on Peanut. It was 2010 when Peanut was brought into the emergency where Gina was working. As you can see from the photo, he was like a stuffed animal without the stuffing; he couldn’t even lift his little head to eat. Gina and the phenomenal staff helped Peanut survive and eventually the perfect mom was found. Peanut’s mom recently tagged us with this photo of Peanut and his grandma. ‘Mom’ said that Peanut is really not as big as he looks in that Grandma is so small. We are so very happy we were able to give Peanut that second chance at a Wonderful Life. Your donations at work. ~ dianapeanut-2010-to-2014peanut-wgrandmaevans-123016

Moose – Saved from Certain Death

12/29/16 – Meet Moose. We were happy to help him through his emergency and we are very thankful to our friend, Megan, of Friends of Scooby Rescue for saving this handsome boy. ~ diana

” Moose was on his way to animal control so I stepped in and found him a foster. He was skinny and not feeling so great. We started to fatten him up and then he had a mild seizure. After speaking with the vet we were told he could not be treated for a seizure unless it was documented or witnessed by staff. A week later another seizure surfaced but was only witnessed by a child.
Fast forward 2 weeks. 2 more undocumented seizures.
Wednesday night we were finally able to record a seizure but the vet was already closed. With the help of 4 Paws 1 Heart, Moose was seen at ORVS and treated for his seizure. They did blood work and an exam. And he was given Phenobarbital for the seizures. We follow up in a few weeks. I’ll send an update after he is seen.
We are very thankful for Diana and 4 Paws 1 Heart. -Megan”

Oats (aka Danny) – Found Wandering the Streets, Bleeding with Multiple Puncture Wounds

Meet Oats (aka Danny)dannyaka-oats-wjo-addington-12191612dannyaka-oats-122516. On a frigid December day, Oats was found wandering the streets. Emaciated, with multiple puncture wounds, chewed areas from another dog and bleeding pretty badly. Fortunately, the right people came along and rescued him. When he was taken to the vet, it was determined that Oats is heart worm positive. Although we have to wait until he is healthier, 4 Paws 1 Heart will be paying for his heart worm treatment. And, even better than that — Oats’ foster family wants to adopt him. Everyone, including the fur children, has fallen in love with his sweet nature. It’s just been 11 days but look how much better he looks after some love and care. As a village, this is how we save lives and reduce the number of homeless animals. ~ diana

Baymax – Found Alone on the Streets Then Kicked Out of Her Foster Home

UPDATE 12/28/16: I called two days ago and was told that BayMax was doing well. The reason he was doing so well was because he didn’t have his surgery yet. For the last two days I’ve been trying to pay the bill but the veterinary staff has been very busy. Finally today, I called again, and the doctor came on the telephone to talk with me. It turned out that once the kind doctor at Groesbeck Animal Hospital actually examined BayMax, it was determined that BayMax does not have Entropion after all. BayMax has a birth defect named Eyelid Agenesis which means the eyelids never developed. Because the cost for surgery is much greater than for entropion surgery, the doctor has decided to take BayMax under his wing and cover the cost of surgery himself and possibly do a case study in that this is a very rare condition. The doctor felt we could use our money on another case (and I think the doctor was a little smitten with BayMax). The doctor will also make sure BayMax is adopted into a good home but, before that, the recovery time will be two to three months. The doctor assured me that BayMax is in good hands. ~ diana

12/28/16 – BayMax, at about 3-months old, was found alone on the streets with a severe upper respiratory infection. He was treated for that and a couple of weeks later, the foster called the Rescue to say she had been kicked out of her home and needed to find homes for BayMax and his sibling. She then cut all ties with the rescue who never heard from her again. By some miracle, the Rescue was looking at facebook and saw that a women had put out a call for help for two kittens that were ‘dumped’ on her. The Rescue recognized BayMax and his brother and immediately called the woman who posted for help. The Rescue was advised that she had taken BayMax to the vet because he seemed to be having trouble with his eyes. The vet failed to listen to the foster and misdiagnosed BayMax’s eye condition. He was then taken to another veterinarian who diagnosed Baymax with Entropion. Many of you may remember that I’ve talked about Entropion before in that we have paid for the surgery several times with rescue dogs. Up until now, I had not heard of any cats suffering from this condition which can cause blindness if left untreated as well as being very painful.
We are thankful that because of the generosity of our friends, we could commit to paying for BayMax’s eye surgery which was done two days ago. He is doing well. Please say a prayer that Baymax can start the new year in his very own, forever home. The little guy has been through a lot. Dori and Danny – Their Mom Was Killed and Two of the Siblings Died

12/27/16 – Don’t forget that 4 Paws 1 Heart is a 501c3 organization which means that all cash donations are tax deductible. 99 cents of every dollar go directly to the medical treatment of abandoned and stray animals. As of today (with charges still being made), we have paid $137,096 in medical bills in 2016. Donations can be made on the ‘donations’ link on this page as well as by mail at P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. ~ diana

These are the miracles that happen because of our caring supporters — Here is the story of two more babies found on the street. Their mother was killed and her four babies were left alone without anyone to care or feed them. Our friend, Karen C. brought them into her home, bottle fed them, and took them to the vet several times because they were all sick and with upper respiratory infections. We were glad we could be there for them. But, heartbreakingly, two of the boys had to eventually be euthanized for failure to thrive and a brain tumor. Thankfully, Dori and Danny did thrive under Karen’s care and they are doing very well and will soon be ready for adoption. 4 Paws 1 Heart is thankful that we have been able to help Karen with all of these sweet babies and that they were not left to die on the street. Dori and Danny will be getting spayed, neutered and tested next week. Anyone interested in these beauties, should contact Karen at:kcarta19@gmail.com.dora-122716danny-122716

Maisy – RIP Sweet Girl – Found in a Home with 17 Dogs

12/27/16 – RIP Sweet Maisy. An 8-month-old Jack Russell Terrier, Maisy was confiscated from a home 4 weeks after her owner had died. Maisy, along with her mother, Daisy, were two of the 17 animals that were also confiscated from the same home. According to the Rescue, Maisy was “acting like a typical puppy, playing, being bossy, cuddling, being goofy…till one day she just became ill”. Maisy had lost her appetite, and became very lethargic. The Rescue took Maisy to the veterinary and they found that she had a slightly enlarged heart, and had stage 4 out of 6 heart murmurs on both sides of her heart and her temperature was 104 degrees. But her blood work came back normal, except for her white blood cell count which was only slightly high. So, the doctor thought Maisy was fighting off some type of infection. At that point, the Rescue contacted us to see if we could help with Maisy’s increasing medical bills. Although we couldn’t commit to paying all of the bills, we agreed to make a sizable payment in hopes of giving Maisy a second chance at life and love. Over the next five days, Maisy seemed to be doing better and started eating again. But then, it wasn’t long before it started up again — vomiting, not eating, high temperature. She continued to be taken back and forth to the vet and, sadly, just 8 days after we were initially contacted, Maisy died. We know she is no longer suffering but it is always heartbreaking when no matter what is done, God just seems to have a different plan. We were glad we could offer some assistance to Care Rescue and we thank them for everything they did to give Maisy a good life and giving her love in her final days. ~ diana
