Ali – Almost Died Tonight

6/9/16 – UPDATE. I’m sorry it has taken me so long post, but yesterday Ali (aka Tootsie) went into respiratory arrest during the anesthetic procedure to change his bandage. I was assisting in the procedure when all of the sudden he stopped breathing, his heartbeat was weak, and he became extremely pale. Immediately I could not control the tears as they began to pour down my face. The doctor and I quickly worked on his tiny lifeless body the best we could and we were breathing into his nose and mouth for oxygen.
After a few minutes a MIRACLE happened. He let out a small little cry and began breathing on his own! Words can not describe the emotion that ran through my body. I am still in disbelief!!! I was concerned about brain damage, but he is acting no different than he did prior to the anesthesia.
There is a reason that he survived and that he is here with us today. In all of my years as a veterinary technician I have NEVER seen a puppy with his strength. As for the wound on his leg, it is slowly healing and from now on we are going to try to avoid anesthesia at all cost!!! We will try to apply the dressing and the bandage with him awake and hope that he keeps it on which has been a huge challenge. Thank you all for the support and the prayers! I will post another update on his progress soon. Gina

Ted Allen – Rescued by Warren, MI Police Officers

6/9/16 – Your donations make it possible for us to help our rescue partners like Tigerlily Cat Rescue. Please pray for this little guy who continues to be hospitalized.

“Sweet Ted Allen was rescued by Warren police officers on Memorial Day. He was cared for by a local vet and the animal control officers, as he has several significant injuries, likely from being attacked by something outside. While he has been on oral medications, the ACOs felt that he needed more care and contacted Tigerlily to help. Despite all he’s been through, this sweet guy continues to purr and be quite loving!
(we did not include photos here of his injuries as they are quite graphic) – Tigerlily”Tedallenw:Tigerlily

Ali (aka Tootsie) – Only 3 Days Old and Caught in a Recliner

6/8/16 – ali(((6:8:16 Ali 6:8:16Update on Tootsie (aka Ali) – Surgery went well but he lost a lot of skin that had ro be removed from infection. Rebecca and Aaron from NBS rescue purchased and delivered a special type of honey made for wound healing cases like this.
We are having a very difficult time keeping the area covered because it’s a terrible area to bandage. He has constant movement with his leg and even trying to immobilize the leg with bandage material has been impossible so far. Jamie from Advanced Animal Emergency Hospital was kind enough to deliver a special bandage material tonight to see if it would work, but by the time I got him home he had most of it off. We are going to try another type of adhesive bandage tomorrow and see if that works. Thank you all for the positive thoughts and prayers. He is a little fighter and he has made his way into all of our hearts! Gina

Ali – Under One Pound and Caught in A Recliner

Meet “Tootsie” (aka ‘Ali)ali6:7:16 ali++6:7:16 ali's stitches6:7:16 ali's missing toes6:7:16 ali---6:7:16A 3-day old puppy who needs lots of prayers. He was abandoned by his owner last night. His injuries are from being caught in a recliner. He had a huge laceration that was repaired and he lost 2 toes. I am bottle feeding and providing intensive care around the clock. He is a huge risk because he’s just a baby and his immune system is weak. He is strong and one hell of a fighter! I’m going to take it day-to-day, but serious prayers are needed. If you would like to donate towards the care for Tootsie, it is always appreciated. We will keep you updated on his progress. Thank you, Gina

Cats Who Survived a Firebombed House and A House with Over 25 Cats

6/5/16 – You may remember our posting about a house which was fire bombed in Detroit, Approximately 50 cats and a couple of dogs, who were kept in the home, perished. Seven cats and a dog were rescued by caring Detroit Firefighters. One cat remains with our friend, Denise Najera, and these six are at the petco store in Roseville (Masonic and Gratiot). An additional 25+ cats were found in another home owned by the same person who owned the firebombed house. The medical bills for all of these sweeties were paid by 4 Paws 1 Heart and they are now available for adoption through A Hopeful Heart. Please share and let’s try and get these poor babies, who have been through so much, a forever loving home. ~ diana13322191_1165327533499543_5317018979762179386_n 13327530_1165327630166200_5614793299953179746_n 13335529_1165327090166254_4142834672255212144_n 13335996_1165327276832902_612891509318046367_n 13339619_1165327480166215_6522052036922867175_n 13319918_1165327393499557_457321959514616255_n

Our Superhero, Chance, Once Again Needs Your Prayers

5/31/16 – Continued prayers for our superhero, Chance. Thankfully, Gina DeLuca will be coordinating his medical treatment. ~ diana

chance5:31:16“Hello Team, so mom talked to Dr. Nurse and this is what he says about my tests:
There was nothing in my bloodwork that looks like cancer. No cancerous cells were found in my Needle Aspiration sample that was sent out. BUT Dr. Nurse wanted to emphasize that these things do not always show up in the Needle Aspiration and there is still the possibility of Mast Cell Tumor or Lymphoma. However its a good sign that nothing showed up in either test. However we need to know why my lymphnodes are swollen. It’s possible I have Lymphoid Hyperplasia. That is an increase in normal cells in the lymphnodes when there is infection, bacteria or germs present and the body is reacting to it. Sooo, here is the present plan.
I will be started on antibiotics for any infection that may be present and steroids to try and shrink the lymphnodes. If this does not work, then Dr. Nurse says the next step would be a biopsy of the lymphnode. But we are going to try treating the symptoms for infection first and see if that works. Also all my test results will be sent to Dr. Kern to look at as well for her opinion and suggestions. So that’s what we know right now, I will start my meds first of next week and see if they help. Thankyou for all your prayers, please keep em coming! Thankyou 4 Paws 1 Heart, Auntie Gina & Auntie Debra for always having my back Sooo mom, lets have some chicken and a nap now! 😉 Meow for now! Love Chance ❤”

4 Paws 1 Heart Joins the St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade

5/30/16 – A huge thanks to our board member, Dee Gudenau, and her husband and Vice Chairperson of the St. Clair Shores Animal Care and Welfare committee, Rick Gudenau, for building the float and coordinating the participation in the St. Clair Shores Memorial Parade. I was inspired by the amount of applause we got and the number of people who knew of us and we’re thankful because they knew someone we helped. There’s nothing like getting involved with a great community like St, Clair Shores. Also a big shout out to the Macomb County Animal Control for being there and supporting such a great event! memorial parade 13331166_1722782498009476_6919736085934127223_n
