Libby was rescued from a high-kill shelter but while playing in her foster’s home, she broke her leg at the knee. The surgery was much more than the rescue could afford, so 4 Paws 1 Heart donated medical dollars to help this little girl who has now used up her second of nine lives. ~ diana

Kittens with Feline Distemper
These kittens were 5 of 13 cats in a mobile home. 4P1H has paid to neuter and spay 7 of them and Tigerlily Cat Rescue has taken them into their organization.
UPDATE:On February 3, 2013, Tigerlily Cat Rescue informed me that all 7 kittens have contracted the Panleukopenia Virus which is highly contagious and deadly. It is very often called “feline distemper”. It is within the same family of viruses as parvovirus in dogs and operates similarly — diarrhea, vomiting, fever, dehydration, lack of appetite, etc. It is not often seen because it is the “P” in the “RCP” vaccines that cats get. Like parvo, there is no “cure” and its a matter of supportive care with IV fluids, antibiotics, etc. and hoping that their little bodies can fight it off. Three of the cats were immediately hospitalized and are in serious condition; the other four are being treated at home. Please say your prayers for these babies; they have been through so much already. 4 Paws 1 Heart will be sending some medical dollars for their care but the hospital bill will be pretty substantial. ~ diana
Lewis is sick and needed medical help!
Lewis is sick and our friends at Better Life Canine Center needed help!! Lewis was saved from a shelter, went through Heartworm Treatment a few months ago, and is now sick :-(. He’s was tested to determine if he still has a few live heartworms, and for some reason he’s lethargic, vomitting, and has other stomach problems too. 4 Paws 1 Heart is happy to send some medical dollars to help Lewis.

We want to again thank our very good friends at LOVEABULL PAWS RESCUE for the following update and photo:

She is now named Lilah and has a pretty pittie sister named Miley, they are both spoiled beautiful girls! 🙂 ~ Loveabull Paws

Mobil Home Cats
Before the Christmas holidays 4 Paws 1 Heart received a call for help from a person who had approximately 13 cats in her mobile home; she had lost her job and was going to be evicted. After many contacts were made Tigerlily Cat Rescue came to our aid. It was not an easy process, we took care of some neutering and spaying and vaccines and finally 7 kittens made it out. Unfortunately, they all contracted the deadly disease, Panleuk but because of the great foster families of Tigerlily, 6 survived. But the medical bills were beyond all of our abilities and we were able to find an Animal Angel who helped with the serious bills. Today they are looking great and looking for their forever homes.. Please check them out on the Tigerlily facebook page. Thank You Tigerlily and Animal Angel and all of our donors for giving these sweethearts a chance ~ diana
Sweetpea Adopted!!!
An Update from our wonderful friends Rebecca Aikins, Aaron Fortin, and Jaime Wolfe, all from NBS Animal Rescue:
“WHOOT WHOOT!! SWEETPEA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!!! I REPEAT, SWEETPEA HAS FOUND A FANTASTIC FUR-EVER HOME!! WHOOT WHOOT!!
It’s a very special day for each and every person who had a hand in saving this special
fella from the misery he endured by his previous owner! From those who prayed for him to get well during his surgeries and illnesses, who “liked” and “shared” his updates, who sent him cards and presents along his road to recovery, and who helped encourage his care takers along the way – today we celebrate that Sweetpea has found a family who will treasure him for the rest of his life. From all of us at NBSAR we cannot thank our supporters enough for their constant positive thoughts, words of encouragement, and love that has been shown for Sweetpea – he really is a very special fella!
Sweetpea has found his fur-ever home with the amazing Kim and Ron Hogan! Kim and Ron worked with Sweetpea over a period of several intermittent days in order to help Sweetpea transition from his foster home and get used to his new environment. They patiently worked with him on his separation anxiety, sought out advice from Sweetpea’s awesome foster parents, learned sign language to communicate with him, and prepared their house so Sweetpea had a similar set up to the one he was used to in his foster home. Kim and Ron are committed to making sure Sweetpea is loved, cared for, adored, and cherished as a true member of their family.
We would like to give a huge Bark Out to our fantastic friends at 4 Paws 1 Heart, Gina and Diana, as well as the amazing staff at the Animal Urgent and Critical Care Center who so lovingly cared for Sweetpea’s medical needs. A huge Paws Up goes out to Sweetpea’s foster parents Stacy and Brett for all of their hard work in helping Sweetpea transition from foster homes and his fur-ever home – you did a wonderful job helping Sweetpea prepare for his fur-ever family and encouraged him to gain confidence in himself, to experience joy in playing with his foster sister Millie the Pug, to know how great chewing on bones are, and to know the love and gentle touch of kind humans.
From all of us at NBS Animal Rescue – we cannot begin to thank our friends and supporters enough for their kind words of encouragement and the unwavering support you have given Sweetpea during his road to recovery. We are so very blessed to have such caring and wonderful supporters!
Kim and Ron – we thank-you from the bottom of our hearts for welcoming Sweetpea into your family. We look forward to many many many happy updates and pictures of Sweetpea’s wonderful life with you both! Your genuine concern for what is best for Sweetpea and kindness in sending positive updates to Sweetpea’s concerned foster parents was very much appreciated. We wish you and Sweetpea the very happiest of lives together and look forward to seeing pictures as he continues to blossom and grow into a happy, healthy, well loved pup!
Happy Tails Sweetpea! ♥ ~ NBS Animal Rescue”
Medical Dollars to Loveabull Paws Rescue
So many puppies were born this past summer and we continue to be thankful for all that our rescue friends do to save the moms and and their babies. Here’s 11 puppies born to 1 mom saved by our friends at Loveabull Paws Rescue. We are happy to send some medical dollars their way to help with all of the spaying and neutering and we thank them, as usual, for always helping us. ~ diana
