Cat Hero Kali (Part II)

CAT HERO KALI (part II) This baby was brought in on Sunday to the E.R. Again, Sasha was on duty. A man almost ran over the kitten with a lawn mower. Luckily, she’s a loud screamer and the man heard her and brought her in. She is about 1-1/2-2 weeks old. Sasha took her home to once again care for her. Her eyes just opened this morning. As with all kittens lacking a mom, this one needed to be fed and pottied every few hours. The last couple of nights, for some reason, Sasha’s alarm did not go off in the middle of the night so that Sasha could get up and feed the baby. But both nights Kali made sure Sasha woke up by ramming her head into Sasha like a bull and pulling the covers off of her. The little one is doing great and is now named Butternut. Did you ever hear of a therapy cat? ~ diana

Hero Cat Kali

Kali

HERO CAT: This is Kali a 2-year-old Balinese female that came into Cats Veterinary as a stray after being attacked by hunting dogs. 4 Paws 1 Heart Board member, Sasha Oza, was there to save her and give her a forever home. About 6 weeks ago a 2 and 1/2 week old kitten (Athena) was brought in by a woman who found her all alone in her garden.

Athena

Sasha took over her care but Athena’s health was very touch and go. Sasha didn’t think she was going to make it. Athena ‘crashed’ twice and almost died. One night while Sasha was sleeping, Kali alerted Sasha. Sasha got up to check Athena and found her limp and lifeless. Sasha rushed her to the E.R. where they put in an IV catheter. Athena then required meds and fluids every hour. If Kali hadn’t woken up Sasha when she did, it would have been too late for Athena. Athena is now doing fantastic! She’s a silly kitten that loves to play with my dog, and Kali. Who says that only dogs can be heroes! ~ diana

Olive Update

OLIVE Update: Many of you might remember our little Olive. She was surrendered by her owner in March, 2012 at about 2-3 years old. We didn’t know her history, but we knew that she needed a loving home. Gina fostered Olive until June. After Hercules entered our lives in May, 2012, Gina couldn’t give both Olive and Hercules the attention they needed. Fortunately, our friend, Carrie Krausmann, Lil’ Dogs Resort, offered to foster her. It was there that Olive met the people who would become her forever family. Here’s a photo of her in her halloween outfit. ~ diana

Trooper Update

TROOPER UPDATE: The following e-mail was received from our friends at Michigan Cat Rescue: ~ diana

Trooper After

“Diana: Nancy and I want to thank you again for helping us help Trooper. He was finally well enough physically and psychologically to go up for adoption last week and he was scooped up right away by a wonderful lady who followed his journey on FB. He will be pampered and get the much deserved life he should have.

A lot of people came out to see Trooper at our adoption event to say goodbye before he was whisked away to his forever home. He was quite the celebrity and a lot of people followed him on FB! LOL”

We could not have done it without your help. God Bless you.

Isabelle (a.k.a.Bernice)

Update Isabelle (formerly known as Bernice); from our very good friends at NBS Animal Rescue. ~ diana

“Hi there!! My name is Isabelle, but my friends call me Izzy. I’m a 3-4 year old female Pekingese but I really look like a pug/pomeranian  mix, or so everyone keeps telling me!

I came from a pretty scary place where my previous owners fed me ribs and it got lodged in my throat sideways and I was unable to eat, drink, or to go to the bathroom for three whole days before they sought out medical attention. I was in really rough shape: I was covered in fleas, had really bad skin, balding hair along my back, over grown toenails, matted fur, and of course – a bone stuck in my throat! After my owners signed me over to the fantastic 4 Paws 1 Heart Organization they contacted my foster parents at NBS Animal Rescue and here I am! I was on IV fluids, pain medication, and had to get a lot of TLC before I pulled through and am the happy little girl that I am today. I visited the veterinarian and got spayed, received my vaccines, got a bath, had my fleas removed, visited a great groomer named Liz at Bingo Pet Salon for a full groom and voila! Here I am – a happy go lucky little 8 lb female who is loving life at her foster family!

I’m a sweet little girl who loves to go for walks and car rides, I’m potty trained, good with other dogs, I’m pretty good at meeting strangers – especially if they have a tasty treat! Kids are OK with me as long as they are 7+ because I”m so small they might accidentally hurt me while we’re playing. I haven’t met a cat yet, but my foster mom says that she thinks I’d be just fine with kitty cats as long as someone introduced me to them properly.

If you think that I might be the perfect addition to your family, please contact the awesome volunteers at N.B.S. Animal Rescue at [email protected] for any additional information or answers to any questions you might have. You can fill out a simple online adoption application at www.nbsanimalrescue.com and we will start processing your application right away! We do require that persons interested in meeting me apply online and be approved as an adopter first so please visit our website and submit your application today!”
