Spay and Neuter Rescued Strays

10/25/13: As we’ve told our supporters so many times, as long as 4 Paws 1 Heart has the money, we will never turn down a request to spay or neuter a dog or cat rescued by a good samaritan. Here is the story of Mummee who we were happy to help with spaying, vaccinations, and de-worming. We wish her the very best in finding that forever, loving home. A big thank you to Patterson Veterinary for working with 4P1H. ~ diana

“This is Sweet-Mummee, abused and abandoned as a kitten… she had 2 litters of kittens back to back. By the grace of God, she wasn’t pregnant for the third time. She was extremely underweight when she was captured with her 5 kittens. Now, 2 months later her kittens are all in foster-to-adopt situations and Sweet-Mummee is on the mend. No longer can you see her pelvic bones, and her stool is coming back to the right color, due to rapid weight loss in the past.

When a door is opened this sweet child gets a worried look … Looking at her face, it’s easy to see she is saying; “please don’t throw me outside again”, and at that she runs away from the opened door. For such a young and petite little girl, she has an old soul… When picked up, she purrs like a roaring engine to show her love and appreciation. She is greatly loved, and will require a family that will love and worship her. She prefers NOT to ever have her food bowl empty and enjoys a large water bowl. It’s pure joy watching this child give herself a bath.”

PLUS, I get to see them again and lots of kids too at People, Pets & Vets next Saturday (11/2/13) at Macomb Community College, Garfield/M-59 campus, Building E from 11am to 3pm. Duke at OVRS

10/25/13 DUKE UPDATE: This morning Duke did have his leg amputated. The specialist at OVRS agreed with our doctors at Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital. Gina will be fostering during his recovery. ~ diana

We Can’t Do It Without You!

10/24/13 WE CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOU! In the past two weeks we have paid for the leg amputation of our little Spooky, the very serious diaphragm operation for our sweetheart, Dewey, and the care and possible surgery for our Duke–and that doesn’t include the spaying/neutering we’ve been helping others with and our usual assistance to our rescue partners.Because we are not a rescue, we rely on individual donations and our fundraisers. You have a chance to help us on either count. Our next fundraiser is November 9. It will be a night of MOTOWN FUN with great raffle prizes. Right now we have 4 sets (2 tickets in each set) of Red Wing tickets — rows 11 and 5) — with more to come. And, many gift certificates and tempting baskets. Bring your friends for an evening of fun for a great cause. ~ diana

Meet Duke

10/23/13 – MEET DUKE — This handsome, sweet boy is 15 weeks old, his owner accidentally ran him over with his car. Duke suffered injuries to his chest and he suffered injuries to his right rear leg that was broken very badly. His injury will require amputation surgery which we would like to get done as soon as possible because he is in a lot of pain. Since Duke is going to be a large breed dog and he has a lot of growing to do he will need a special home; one where they will be conscious of his weight. He would also benefit from some hydro- therapy post operatively. Without our financial assistance this puppy would not have gotten a second chance because the owner chose not to keep him due to the injuries. Duke will have his surgery tomorrow morning with Dr. Balaj. Prayers and financial help for his surgery and therapy is much appreciated. ~ Gina

10/24/2013 – DUKE: Duke was transported to a specialist last night by our good friend, Michelle, of A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue. The doctors want to wait until Duke’s injuries heal a little more before doing any exploratory surgery to determine what might be the next course of action with his leg. They think they can do this tomorrow. We will surely keep everyone updated. Again, prayers and positive energy are always helpful.

Dewey Keeps Fighting

10/23/13Our little Dewey keeps on fighting day by day to recover from his surgery. I am so happy to report that as of this morning he was doing much better! Please remember that he is on some pretty good post op pain medication in this video. ♥♥ gina

10/24/2013 – DEWEY: Unfortunately, although Dewey is holding his own it still is not clear whether he will be able to get through this very serious operation. He is eating and drinking on his own but he can’t seem to balance himself. Please continue your prayers and positive energy for the very sweet boy.

Check out their stories on our page and if anyone is interested, please contact Gina or me. [email protected] or [email protected].

3) Our little Dewey still needs your prayers. He is not in the clear just yet. Gina is with him tonight and will let us know how he’s doing.
